Admiral ZEX, 001[action & video]
Sitting outside on a bench, ZEX composes a message in his head, tapping a tentacle thoughtfully to his scaled cheek. It must be cheerful, yes, and helpful-- though the weeks had slipped by like mere moments to him, he'd spent those moments observing humans, and chatting with the people of this fleet, and he'd found that being genial seemed to be the way to go, genial and polite and not too forward (though he couldn't help it, sometimes). And surely his fellow newcomers, displaced as they were, would appreciate some kind words and help from someone in a similar situation?
Yes, kind and cheerful is clearly the way to go.
He composes himself, and taps his little tablet to start recording.
"Hello, everyone! I hope you are all having a good day?"
In the frame of the video pickup is a rather startling alien, green and cyclopic, with wriggling tendrils ringing his face; they are curling in a relaxed-looking way, and his tone sounds cheerful to match them.
"My name is ZEX, and I am a newcomer, displaced into this universe as all of you are, my friends. I've luckily found this somewhat agreeable, and have taken up studies at the local schools, which are entirely fascinating! Unfortunately, it's been somewhat of a shock, as well-- it has been such a long time since I attended academy and officer's school, and the method of teaching is slightly, hee! hee! hee!, alien to me, if you'll forgive the pun." He giggles, his trunk twitching with the sounds and whip-like tongue fluttering, eye half-closing in mirth at his own joke. "I was wondering if anyone would care to become-- I believe the term is study buddies? Though you could call it whatever you wish, of course-- academic allies?" Another giggle, as he is apparently amused by his own alliteration.
"I'm currently taking courses in xenobiology and history, but I would be very willing to help anyone with any of their classes! My personal specialties are things like, oh, three-dimensional combat and tactics, mathematics, communications... but if there is help I can render in some other area, you need but say a word, dear friends." He beams, eye all but closed in a cheery curve, tendrils fluttering, and the tip of one of his tentacular arms curling around his twitching trunk. "Even if it is just company you wish for! I would dearly love to get to know each and every one of you, after all."
(Wait, hmm, that might be a little too much...)
He composes himself, with a faint giggle, and dips a little bow towards his tablet with his whole upper body. "Please, don't hesitate to respond if there is the least thing I can do for any of you, or if you would be so kind as to wish to help me in my studies."
He cuts the video feed, and sits back, with a cheerful sigh. Well! That went... a little astray, but well, considering how long it had been since he had spoken publicly. And it had been even longer since he had done so without his--
No, that thought was going nowhere good. Best to change direction.
He looks out over the little patch of grass and trees that made up this barely-a-park, and smiles at any humans or humanoids who pass, admiring their forms, the way they move, their spectacular diversity... ahhh, who could ever tire of such a view? Surely not him! And if any of the humanoids send a curious look his way (or any non-humanoids, for that matter, since there are a few of those about, too), he will try his best to look welcoming and open to bothering.
