003 - Karaoke Time!

[Hello Crux Fleet! Have a Pinoko! She's figured out how to work the communicator, so this might be a little dangerous. Maybe. Pinoko has got to stop looking for friends in all the wrong places.]

Hello everyone! My name is Pinoko!

Since Mr. Quark opened his bar, and he has karaoke, I was wondering if anyone wanted to go sing with me? They have games, and drinks, and all sorts of stuff! It's no fun to go to karaoke alone, but if you don't want to sing that's okay!

[No guarantees that Pinoko wouldn't try to get you to sing if you went with her though. But you at least have assurances that she won't laugh if you do!]

Karaoke is two nights a week. Who is up for it?

[Normally, she'd pass over this sort of thing. Bars aren't much her style, unless there's a special element to pique her interest -- historical elements, for example. And she already knows about Quark. But. A Ferengi with karaoke? That's worth some attention.]

I'm a bit surprised he included that in the establishment. You'll have to be careful with the high notes -- Ferengi tend to be sensitive about their ears.

The frag is karaoke? Some kind of weird kinky scrap you humans do?

Karaoke is really fun! It is not kinky! There's music, usually to a song that you know. And then there's a video screen. And the words to the song are displayed on the screen and you sing along to the song. It's not that hard! Acchonburike! I guess they don't have karaoke where you're from?

[Pinoko sighed. Heavily. The thought of kinky karaoke was gross okay?]

Besides, there's more than just karaoke at Mr. Quark's. They have drinks and games too. So there's other stuff to do aside from karaoke.

Pinoko asked him to. He included pachinko too, which is a game from where Pinoko is from. I'll have to take my friends and go visit. I hope he has songs that I actually know.

[Otherwise it would be a very interesting karaoke night.]

[Pachinko is less familiar to her -- not as much of an entertainment footnote for a 24th century Hoosier. She suspects it's a good way to make sure Quark makes plenty of money, though.]

Maybe I'll take a look sometime. I take it you're something of a singer?

And what, exactly, is karaoke?

Okay basically? You get the beat to a song and then you sing the lyrics in time with the song.

Alcohol might be involved.

I'm pretty sure it has the potential of being awesome, or pathetic. But funny in either case!

I love singing! I used to have a karaoke machine at home. It wasn't one of the big setups that you see in bars and stuff, but it was still a lot of fun.

[Pachinko wasn't really interesting to Pinoko either. Now if Quark would just install a DDR Machine, then she'd never leave his bar.]

I don't know! But Mr. Quark said that he has all sorts of drinks, and games too! As well as karaoke! So there's all sorts of stuff for people to do!

[Not that Quark would necessarily card anyone, unless Fleet security cracked down on him, let's be real here.]

I guess I can show up if it's a regular thing, but I've never really done karaoke before. Wonder if they've got snacks like the bars back home...

Well, if they're going to have drinks, and it's a bar, I can't imagine it would be that different. I mean, the bars where Pinoko's from have food and stuff too. So I imagine this one will too.

Same here. So much for relaxation, huh?

Food, probably, but I'm going to guess they don't have karaage or anything like that.

Come to think of it, I'm curious to see how they'll handle the playlist. I mean, everyone in the fleet speaks the same language, but I only know songs in Japanese and English.

Seriously. Those bikers were jerks!

[At Zouichi's mention of karaage, Pinoko sighed wistfully. Karaage was so good. Though she smiled when she realized something.]

Pinoko can make Karaage! Pinoko can make all sorts of stuff like that! So even if they don't have it at Mr. Quark's, I could make us some.

[At his point about the songs, Pinoko frowns.]

You know, that's a good point. I don't know how everyone in the Fleet speaks the same language. Pinoko spoke Japanese and bits and pieces of other languages back home. I knew songs in Japanese and English. Mr. Quark definitely isn't Japanese, and I don't know if he's an alien from the Fleet... so I don't know what kind of music he'll have. I sent him a song list, but I don't know if he'll use that, or if he'll use other stuff.

Hey, me too. Maybe we should put our heads together sometime and make dinner. Now that I don't have anyone to cook for, I kind of miss it.

[Plus, he now had a lot more time on his hands than he was used to.]

Do you have a disc or a portable drive with music on it, something like that? I guess if worst comes to worst, everyone can just learn new songs. But it's nice to have reminders of home.

I always make too much. I'm used to cooking for more than one person. I like making curry. But getting together and making dinner sounds like a lot of fun!

[That and she hadn't really gotten to make dinner for anyone since she had ended up on the fleet. It was one thing to cook for one or two people. But actually Making Dinner... well... that was an experience when Pinoko was involved.]

I have my old cell phone. That has some pictures, some movies, and some old songs on it. So I have some reminders of home.

[The pictures were what she treasured most, right now, honestly. Though she had quite a large chunk of her music collection from back home on there as well.]

[Guess who has to come ruin all of the fun.]

Well, that's two nights a week I won't be dropping by.

[Hey, he's had to room with a weird Autobot who kept making everything all..weird. It's made him wonder about everyone else. ]

Do you have any specialties? I kind of like making gyoza, myself. It's kind of repetitive, but that's what's relaxing about it.

Well, that's a good thing, isn't it? Actually, I have some recordings myself. But if you get right down to it, I'd rather just be able to see my friends again.

It's a good thing that I have my old phone, yeah. But I know what you mean. I'd rather just see all my friends, and the Doctor... heck I'd even take Largo right now!
