[Oh look, someone just barely got through being processed and into a room and is finally able to go through the personal items the fleet nabbed for him from his previous world.]

[Namur sits up and bonks her forehead with the backs of his knuckles.]

That ain't how family works, damn it. Y' all oughta be helpin' each other get yer shit together. How the hell d' y' call people one on one with these things?

[Namur pulls his communicator out of his pocket. It looks like a little snail with a couple of buttons on its shell. He pushes one, and the snail's eyes project a standard graphical interface in front of itself.]

Figured we all needed space to get all junk together and then regroup again when we were all here. Just made sense. I mean, we all gots lives to live in this new place, right?

Looks like a baby den den mushi, from my world. An' yeah, sure we got our own lives, but we live 'em t'gether Smolt. If Cake showed up here would y' make her get her own place 'til she figured herself out? Hell naw. She'd be roomin' with y' the moment she woke up, or at least right next t' y'. C'mon.

[Namur scrolls through the holographic interface and pokes at one or two of the pictures to see what they do. Neither one makes a private phone call, but one of them makes the little mechanical snail open its mouth and start playing elevator music in a tinny voice. Namur snorts.]

Shit I wish it was a real snail phone though. They ain't half this annoyin'.

A baby-what?! So wait, you think that we should all be rooming in the same place? Like, all of us?

[Fionna takes a moment to ooh and aah over the snail a moment].

All in the same buildin' at least. Like we was in Balamb. Gotta be able t' get t' each other quick in case shit happens, y' know?

[It is a cool little snail. He's already thinking up ways to personalize it. Maybe he'll get it a little dorsal fin to go on its shell and some sunglasses for when it's not in use. And definitely a new coat of paint. Those colors are lame.]

Ones back home're actually alive, so y' jus' tell 'em what y' want 'em t' do and they do it, so long as they got the right equipment attached. Gotta keep 'em fed an' watered, too. Sheheh!

We can manage that! I mean, it might be like that now, since we don't have a lot of money!

[He settles into the corner of the couch, passes his snail phone to Fionna and pulls her up on top of him because he takes up all of the seats.]

[She thought a moment]. Dunno. I know for sure that Grell's got one!

[Namur rolls his eyes. As nice as it was to get the opportunity to go to school, it's really, seriously not a thing he wants to keep doing if he doesn't have to.]

[Erk! That was not what he meant but okay. Credits. They gave him some of those to get an apartment or something. Well, he can stash his stuff somewhere and crash with people too, so it's no big deal.]

[He would already know Fionna had no problem having him around].

[Namur wraps his arms around her shoulders and rolls her over onto the floor to give her a long, sensual- well, bite. But she knows what he means by it, that's what's important.]

[That took her by surprise, and in a bad way: she arched her back, gritting her teeth]

Thought you said you were tired or somethin'.

[Ohh, that is not the reaction he expected. Namur lifts up and sniffs, making sure it's just physical pain and not fear or revulsion, then carefully shifts himself off to the side, subdued.]

Yeah, but. Think I'd let that get in the way when there's a hot maid willin' t' hit the town with me? Please.

[Yup, she's still tender from that fight a little while ago, believe it or not]

[She'd have been pissed of course, because anyone could attest she had constantly been thinking of him].

[Now he looks all kinds of confused.]

[Namur runs the backs of his fingers over her cheek. What happened before was just because she was out of practice, maybe. He hopes she's still okay with him showing affection. It wasn't some response to her true feelings, buried in an attempt to prove to him how "grown up" she is, right?

[He smiles, and starts playing with the lock of hair that's always sticking out of her hat.]

Yeah, mostly! Lots of robots, but I had this one other robot guy who was brought here that helped me out! He's my bud now!

[She blew her hair a little, giggling].

[Namur slowly inches closer, eyes locked on Fionna's, his breath ghosting over her cheek. He runs his fingers up under her chin, lifting it so their noses almost touch.]

[Then he pulls her hat off, vaults to his feet, and runs for the door.]
