Spartans were originally meant to be small, light warships. We kind of retrofitted them for mobile armors when we developed the tech about fifty or sixty years ago. Honestly, they're pretty much useless for anything else other than pure defensive purposes. Lowest bidder, you know? We did outfit the Invincible with some improved sensors a few years ago so we could use it for science and scouting missions, but that was before we got the Uncontested Starfall.
...But I'm getting distracted. Sorry. Yes, we pretty much use them for carriers these days. Mobile Armors are... You saw those giant robots running around? Think those but a bit bigger and piloted by people. We use them for ground ops and space combat. They're slower and clunkier than your starfighters, but they're a bit tougher and can carry a wider variety of weapons and tools.
