Doom 3 Event: Part 2 Log

Who: Everyone!
What: Part 2 of the Event. Kicking butt mostly.
When: Anytime during the event
Where: In the rip and around it.
Warnings: Violence.

To say that demons patrolled the area would be a lie. They didn't have the mental process to actively work up something of that sort. Instead, they simply waited where they were, hoping for someone to come across their paths. For some demons, they'd happily get in fights with their own brethren if provoked into it. Their only allegiance seemed to lay in causing as much chaos as possible and straight up killing.

Occasionally, they ventured outside the hole in space but with the current incursion of others, they tended to stay inside. All the better fighting took place inside anyway. And other than the guests, there were more than a few AFLAK agents inside the hole. The demons were definitely ready for the amusement that was inevitably going to be showing its face.

[OOC: Everyone is free to start their own threads with this! Saturday, the crystal destruction thread will go up. NPCs/enemies will visit threads and feel free to request any that you want specifically.]

Somewhere in the midst of this chaos, someone was frantically strumming a guitar. Francœur nervously played for the group of demons that had taken him here. He played them new songs, and in return, they did not kill him. It was a terrifying deal. At least they did not demand that he sing. Perhaps they did not know he could. He was not about to correct them, he did not feel he could sing in a situation like this.

Help should be coming soon, if not for him then for the others. He frequently looked for help, listened for the sounds of a rescue, any sign of hope. There were too many here to try escaping alone.

TO THE RESCUE

Where there's trouble, action, problems best solved with fists, firepower, or even harsh language, Flashpoint's there to make it happen. It's just what she does. And it's next to impossible to miss the music as it carries, a sound familiar to her audio store. That sure as hell better not be Chirpy, she'd thought to herself. That bug is even better at getting into trouble than she is!

It's recon time now, and Francœur might notice a pair of glowing amber eyes lingering in the darkness atop some supply crates. They sweep the scene, counting the enemies, assessing the options, before landing on the giant flea and staying there. If she gets his attention, she'll give him a wink and a nod: a little warning that all hell's about to break loose, and to keep that distraction going as best he can.

MY HERO

Just as Flashpoint was familiar with his music, Francœur was familiar with those eyes. He swallowed hard, feeling conflicted emotions of relief and worry. He looked at the crowd of demons and he clutched the guitar close. Whatever she was planning, he hoped he would be ready.

For the next song, he played a stirring melody. His claws quickly danced across those strings and hit the board for percussion. If that did not get their attention, he tried an occasional dance move. He had done it a few times before to distract from the fact that he was not singing.

RAWR

Ahh, that's a good bug! Keep it up while Flashpoint gets into position. The demon just in front of her perch is going to have a bad day, followed by and even worse day. In fact, she has every intention of making everything in here wonder why their life suddenly sucks so bad.

From her storage comes one of her grenades, simple smoke, which she pulls the pin on like one would untie the bow on a present. Happy Sooty Vapro Day to the cluster of demons on the left. As for this guy just below her perch? She'll drop down on his head, the sheer weight of her frame doing bad crunching things to his general head/neck area. Then she tucks forward, falling into a controlled roll, one that then launches said demon--pinned between her feet as his is--into the shuffle of zombies in the corner. Hey, it's kind of like that Earth sport, bowling!

She exits her roll into an offensive stance, her momentum already carrying her to her next target. With this many enemies she has to hit hard and fast before they overwhelm her.

It still disturbed him to see such violence. He gasped once Flashpoint began her attack, squeezing his eyes shut. It only lasted a moment; he should be helping her. On the next chord, the guitar's music took a hypnotic hold over a number of the enemies. They continued to sway to the music despite their impending doom.

Francœur leapt out of the way. The exit was not far. He looked to Flashpoint, wondering if they should just run away instead. As long as he continued to play, there were not enough enemies to overwhelm them. Either they could either run, or Flashpoint could easily take care of the rest.

She can't really blame him for the grimace; it is grim work, what she's doing. And Flashpoint should maybe remember that the war is over and she doesn't 'need' to be as, well, thorough as usual.

But then, Chirpy's her friend (one of few) and you just don't mess with her friends alright?

Flashpoint's happy to see him leap away to safety, noting the strange sway of the enemies who are slow to react. Maybe an evac really would be wiser. This looks like a dead end, so she'll just make it deader. There's nothing that can't be resolved without demolitions!

She turns to Francœur and waves him off, back towards the door, dashing that way herself while she readies another grenade. There's at least one demon between her and the door, and he gets the rise of her kneeguard under the chin, throwing hapless thing backwards. Wow, this is almost too easy!

'Course with her luck, things are only just getting started around here.

He did not need any more directions than that. He looked at the door and leapt for it. While he easily cleared the demon's head, the demon, in a stunning display of quick reflexes, grabbed Francœur's blue scarf. The sudden halt made the flea screech and he landed on his back. Meanwhile, the demon did not get any further, just a second later and it greeted Flashpoint's knee with its chin.

Francœur hastily ran on his claws and feet to get out of the way. He did not look hurt, just frightened. The commotion was already sure to draw attention. They had to make a quick escape, but to where? He got back on two feet and he watched Flashpoint, still playing that guitar. Wherever she went, he would follow.

Aw frag. Baddies on two fronts now. Just what she needed to make things interesting. No, scratch that, she doesn't have enough munitions to make this truly interesting, but that guy in the powered armor might.

Welp, change of plans! That grenade in her hand now has Mechaxeface's name on it and she'll just make-do with the door. Hopefully tearing its access panel out would successfully lock Chripy's fanclub of uglies in their little hidey-hole. But she needs to get them both fully through that door first.

Sorry Francœur, it's Unwelcome Touch time as Flashpoint tries to muscle both of you through the door. Yes, yes, she knows it's in the direction of The Bigger Thing, but she's faced larger in the past and she likes a one-on-one fight better. If all goes well--and frag her bad luck if it decides to show up in spades now--she'll get them both out the door, the dammed thing shut, and that access panel rendered inoperable with a kiss of her fist.

It was terrifying getting anywhere closer to that loud whatever it was, but he trusted Flashpoint so he went along with her without any resistance. At least now with the group taken care of, they could focus on just the one here. He started a new song, with the new enemy here as the sole target. Regardless if the demon in the power suit liked to dance or had never done so much as a two-step in his life, the notes from the guitar sought out to bring an unfathomable urge to stop fighting and to dance instead.

And that was the plan, trapping all the lesser guys in their own hidey hole so they could get away...oooor run right into one larger dude instead. But hey, can't complain when they've still got fewer enemies to deal with than before.

And it would have been convenient if Mechaxeface (yeah loser that's your new name Deal With It™) had just gone to sleep forever but nooo, that's WAY too easy for Flashpoint's life.

"Get clear while I take care of Mr. Monosyllabic," Flashpoint tosses the words to Francœur as she tries to get in the thing's face, giving the bug room to slip past the gurgling mechstrosity first. She's there, ready to intervene if it wakes up and takes a swipe at her buddy. So when it screams 'BLOOD', she agrees! And punches it in the faceplate. Flashpoint's making an awful huge target of herself in the process though. She's asking for it really, but that's part of the point: be a more tempting target than Francœur is.

He quickly jumped to safety, holding a claw over his hat so he would not lose it in the process. He looked back for Flashpoint to see if she was okay. The music's effects did not last as long as he had hoped, but what could he do? He desperately tried another song to get it distracted again.

It's kind of nice to be fighting something her own size. Not to mention, something she may actually be able to use her weapons systems on. The system boots up, the glowy biolights on her arms brightening just a little. Time to find this mech's weaknesses so she can take him down fast. Where one came from, there might be more, and she's not too comfy with Chirpy having to deal with potential aggro-enemy #2.

With a grunt Flashpoint takes the blow from the other mech--she's made more for withstanding damage than avoiding it--but she does move with it slightly, softening the impact a bit. She's got a nice dent she'll have to buff out later, but it sets up nicely for an open flank though, plus that extended arm, and she strikes several targets a flurry of hits. They don't do a ton of damage but then that's not their main purpose. She's retrieving data through vibration and harmonics, almost like sonar mapping, looking for perfect place to strike to disable this cocky loser.

Flashpoint wants to finish this, and fast. He's in her way!

He winced as he watched the fight, though he did not dare stop playing for even a second. Though he disliked the thought of using a guitar as a weapon, he now regretted its limitations.

Flashpoint could take care of this, he trusted. Just a little longer, then it would be over. His claws tapped out a rapid percussion and he slapped a tune on the strings.

Aw gross, that sure is the telltale quiver of fleshy parts under there. Way to give her the heebee-jeebees, Nullmechaxeface! Well that makes her a whole lot less inclined to punch holes in the thing, she's only just recently finished getting all the goop out of her armor seams leftover from that tentacle thing that attacked Deadlock.

She can't exactly tell where the powerpack is, but she can make a wild guess. If the organic inside is humanoid, that bulge on the back must be important right? She'll come in at the thing again with a sharp knee to the midsection, the kinetic force of which should hopefully double the creature over. Then it's time to lace her fingers together and slam them down on its back. Hopefully she hits something important? Or she might just make it mad. Either way, Flashpoint's life is exciting!

"I'll be done dancing with this guy in a minute!" she shouts back at Chripy, checking to make sure he's still okay. She seems...maybe a little too happy to be in this tussle. Ahem.

Chirpy was looking behind when Flashpoint shouted at him. A shadow was coming down the corridor, but Francœur seemed almost relieved that someone was coming. It was a demon, like those that had captured him. It looked lost, swaying gently as it sought out the source of the music. Francœur chirped, getting its attention. When it saw them, it quickly approached. It did not attack, however. It seemed elated to hear such music. After Flashpoint's attack, it went right to the demon, intent to start waltzing with him.

Francœur clicked at Flashpoint. Now was the best time to escape!

Oooookay. Did she just see that? Is that really two large mechadorksuits dancing with each other? Flashpoint skirts the pair with hands up, skittering back like their dancerific cooties might infect her.

She comes parallel with Francœur down the hall. "You got some talent there Chirpy," she's going to assume it's him doing that, because she doesn't want to think about those being native habits. "Good time to beat it then, huh?"
