0003: NEW ARRIVALS

Who: New Arrivals, Captain Jack Hollis, Science Captain Urist McEngineer, Graham Baker
Where: Briefing Room
When: Late afternoon
Warnings: None

When awakening, you'll find the area you're in to be very busy. The people in the medical ward are polite and understanding, but firmly refuse to answer questions until the briefing. The same goes for the robots in the hangars. Either given hospital outfits resembling very comfortable pajamas, drone bodies, or their own bodies, they are escorted by polite, unyielding people in red and black uniforms to the briefing room.

The room is large, but not quite large enough for some of the bigger Cybertronians. They've been given drone bodies at least, skinny little things with no real features beyond primitive masks made of paper plates. There's seats for everyone, at least, well-cushioned and comfortable, and the room is pleasantly lit.

A few Security personnel, dressed in their red and black uniforms, stand at ease in the rooms in strategic areas. Three men stand at the head. One is Graham Baker, a slightly nervous-seeming middle-aged man wearing a multi-layered business suit that seems rumpled and oversized. The other two men are dressed in military uniforms, one with the blue undershirt and piping of Command, while the other wears the gold of Science.

[Questions to the NPCs will go in the briefing thread. The rest of the post is there for people to mill about and do whatever with.]

He'd been so focused on fiddling with the wristband type comm device that he hadn't even realized anyone was looking at him until Steve approached. This was probably one of those times when Chase should have been paying more attention to his surroundings, but as it was he was ready to kill or maim if someone so much as looked at him wrong.

"Yeah. Freshly arrived in the ass end of nowhere." Or wherever it was they were exactly. It wasn't Earth, so the specifics didn't really matter, did they? Since they wouldn't help him figure out their location any.

Definitely not Bucky. The voice and the wording was all wrong. Steve relaxed some and gave a nod. "It's a long way from home. For a lot of us."

He frowned, glancing past Chase. He didn't like or trust the people in charge, but he grit his teeth and tried to work with them. They claimed they had not done this intentionally. And hypothetically they were going to try to fix it. Or so they claimed.

"Did they tell you anything useful. Where you're staying, how to get food. That sort of thing? I haven't been here long, but I can show you the important places, at least. It isn't easy getting used to this place solo."

Believe him. He's been trying exactly that.

"At the very least, you're less likely to have anyone staring down at you like you've just discovered fire a few millennia too late."

"No kidding." And he should probably be more worried about that, but he couldn't muster the energy to be anything but annoyed right now. Space. Big deal. He was probably going to end up spending a few days sulking before snapping out of his funk. Eventually, space would be both cool and maybe a little frightening.

"If they have, I don't remember. I kind of zoned out halfway through." It tended to happen when people just talked at him for extended periods of time. "A tour'd be great, so long as you're less boring then those guys were."

He shrugged, raising an eyebrow. "Why'd you get looks like that?"

"Well, I'm not from here, so I've got a different take on things. And these communicators are nothing like the CB Radios back home."

He gave a shrug and pointed in the direction of the housing section.

"They give you housing for a little while, but they expect you to find a job and your own place to stay after a few weeks. It's... not the greatest welcome, but it could be worse. You can also sign up to be a student. They don't make anyone pay for education."

He paused, scanning for one of the restaurants. He still had some extra spending money left over. He could afford to dish out a little.

"Have you eaten?"

"Yeah, you don't look stiff enough to be from here." That was something of a compliment. As close as anyone would probably get to hearing something nice from Chase right now. "CB Radios. Right."

But no, he could pay attention and listen without having some sarcastic comment to make every five seconds. Though to be fair, he was done with being a student by this point. He was in space, his education wasn't really the most important thing any more. Had never even been the most important thing back home. He nodded, at least, to show that he was paying attention.

"Have I eaten. Let's see, get beat up, get kidnapped, end up in space and listen to a really boring speech, nope, haven't eaten."
