[Hello, Cruxians! This is your teenage girl speaking.
The video opens up to show her sitting on one of the many 'benches' through the spaceship's giant hallways, bringing her legs up and arms around them, face almost uncomfortably close to the screen. ]
Hey everyone!
[That tone is already a little too overeager. When it's with a normal person, it's a bit odd, but something somewhat welcoming. However, with an Ace Attorney sidekick, it usually means shenanigans. How prepared are you all for shenanigans?]
Okay so like, I've been wondering something REALLY important since we got here. Yeah, yeah, we all gotta get jobs and help the fleet out. But -who- is going to keep track of our progress? Like...space progress.
You know, like--
[Her voice clears with a soft 'ahem', sitting up rather straight and dignified.]
"Captain's Log, Day 23."
[And cue back to normal.]

Stuff like that! Any takers? Because if not, I'm supremely disappointed in you. SUPREMELY.

Perhaps that is the type of job you'd like to do?
...Wait. You mean I can do that? I'm not a Captain, though!
It'd just be like...Kay's log!

[... HIS Journeys? Yeah no. Kay, you may want to do everything you can to dissuade this moron. Lord knows that if he tries he'll make it all about him.]

...Oh I like you. You've got the heroic adventurer's spirit!
Hey, what if I did that for you? Some kind of story time like deal, and I'll keep track of it?
Well I didn't see this coming.

[Star Trek references: ironically, lost on someone from the 31st century.]
My systems make a record of anything important that happens, but it sounds like you want something with more of a narrative.

[Those hands reach up, palms facing outward as her arms move in an arc-like motion. As if the words were right in front of her and she was reading them aloud.]
I like that. Think I can steal that one from you? Because Space Diary is too good to pass up.
...
Yeah, that sounds about right! Something we could like...turn into a movie or something! I've seen it done. All those 'based on a true story' things won't know what hit 'em!

[There are normally disks for that sort of thing, but he lost his and this place doesn't have any. It's mildly distressing, but so is Kay.]

You interested, Mr. Tron?

Though I have to admit, this is a much more... gently run ship than the ones I have studied. Also, much less troll-run. So perhaps they do things differently.
[Equius thoughtfully chews on the end of the random screwdriver he's holding, head tilted thoughtfully. Perhaps he should do a little research, hmm...]

And what can I say? I like being right.
[Those moments are so rare, you don't even know.]

As far as I know, the Captains keep their own logs. I mean, if you want to keep your Space Adventure Diary, that's your thing, but they don't usually make theirs public. Unless you want to read day after day of "Sat down. Watched the stars for ten hours. Managed not to fall asleep."
[Voice]
They're like...the filler episodes of a show!
Except like...in real life.
[Logic.]

Well yeah...but it would go off on tangents and be really distracting. You need a solid narrative--someone to take it by the reins and get us from Point A to Point Z!
A journey! A hero's destiny! Action! Adventure!
Hit the beach!

You don't just bring a bard along expecting amazing things to happen for them to make songs and stories about, that's just not how it works! That's a surefire way to set your adventure up to be totally disappointing!
I'm gonna be honest here. I didn't understand a word of what you said.
I mean, we're in space! How are amazing things NOT gonna happen?

[Have a waving Pinoko, Kay! She's missed you!]
I don't know why you couldn't keep your own logs. Pinoko is pretty sure that people around the fleet would keep their own logs anyway, but I'm pretty sure that they have better things to do than keep track of what we're all doing every moment of every day.
[At least she certainly hoped so!]
We should have like...some kind of collaboration! So we can take something home with us...whenever that happens.

But I -could- do 'Great Thief's Log'. Doesn't roll quite as easily as 'Captain', though...
