[It didn't take long for Hannibal to figure out the network on his tablet. By now he had explored part of the city, and he's ready to find a job like Graham Baker recommended him. Not having had the chance to meet Pinoko yet, he decides to take advantage of the communication system here.]
Good afternoon, my name is Hannibal Lecter, and I recently arrived to the city. I was told in the briefing about the necessity of getting a job. My abilities lie in the medical field, and he suggested I contact Ms. Pinoko to see what kind of training I would need to take to be able to start working. I can only hope she will see this message.
Additionally, once I'm cleared to work as a doctor, I will be offering you my services as a psychiatrist. If you feel therapy would help you with any problems you have, feel free to contact me. I will do what is in my hands to help you.
[He smiles briefly, nods as a farewell and then turns off the feed.]

Well... I have to admit that I haven't been working very long. I've been working with Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital. The doctors here are all pretty nice. Dr. Kolding reminds Pino-- reminds me a lot of a doctor that I know back home.
[She corrects herself quickly. She's trying to stay professional and she's had enough people call her on the talking in third person tic of hers. Keep it together Pinoko.]
They're going to want to test your knowledge. See how much you know, see the extent of your knowledge. I know I don't look like it, but I'm a nurse back home. [And an unlicensed one at that, but she kind of didn't mention that to the doctors of the Fleet...] Once they find out what your general knowledge level is, they're going to want you to take some tests to prove you're competent. There's also getting caught up with the current technology and such. Which they might want you to take classes for.
[She frowned here. She had learned a lot since she had been here. But classes, and more importantly tests were still pretty scary.]
Xenobiology is hard but the space technology is nice at least.
That does sound like a good place to work at, Miss. I'll be heading there as soon as possible in that case. Provided it's within a reasonable hour, of course.
And as for my knowledge being tested, it's quite understandable. I realize that the people who crafted this ship are much more advanced in different kinds of science. I'm quite sure, for one thing, that I never had to take xenobiology during my medical training. I'm sure I will have to do more than one class. [Well, he'll learn new things, he can't quite complain.]
Xenobiology is interesting. Did you know that there are some aliens that have three livers? And some that have skin like rhinoceroses? And others that have organs that I've never even seen?
[And yes, she sounded excited about that. But that meant that if... when she eventually got home that she might be better at doctoring than the Doctor was. And that was a big deal, okay?]
Well, there's all sorts of ways to get around. There's public transportation, and one of the lines goes near the hospital, so if you don't have a car or anything, you can always get there that way. Dr. Kolding seems to be in charge around here. He's really serious, but he's not too bad.
[She paused, considering him for a few moments.]
What kind of medicine did you practice back home, Dr. Lecter? I know you mentioned psychiatry. Do you have any other specialties? I'm a surgical nurse.
I must admit that sounds quite fascinating. Before coming here, I never met an alien before, so anything I learn about their biology and physiology will be quite new for me.
[Hannibal is willing to learn to keep himself entertained. Xenobiology definitely sounds way more interesting than human biology, though it will be quite useless for him at home.
Ugh, public transportation is something Hannibal hasn't had to resort to in such a long time, and he's not very keen on it. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a vehicle here. Yet.]
Dr. Kolding, I'll look for him at the hospital, hopefully once I start working I can move closer there. [Or get a car.]
I have practice and mentored others in psychiatry for quite a few years already, but I am also trained in surgery. I could take that specialty if it's more needed at the fleet rather than therapy.
[Which was true. Pinoko didn't care if Xenobiology would technically be useless for her when she got home. Maybe she could be an exotic animal vet or something. Expand your mind, Hannibal.]
I guess you could move closer to the hospital if you wanted to. There hasn't been any talk about moving really. A lot of us were placed in new arrival housing when we got here. They didn't really talk about moving beyond that. I guess you could ask about that at the Renaissance center.
[Pinoko's little apartment suited her just fine. Mostly because anything bigger would feel too big, and then the homesickness would get worse.]
Therapy would probably be useful. I haven't met any therapists on board Fleet yet.
[Sorry, Dr. Lecter. Pinoko was not going to be volunteering for any therapy from you. She would rather talk to her friends about her issues.]
[Oh he's definitely willing to expand his mind, he's probably never going to have a chance like this one again.]
Yes, I have established myself in the quarters assigned to me. [He's not particularly happy about that, the apartment is not only small, but so simple. If he can't move, at least he'll make sure to refurnish to something more stylish.] But I recall that just as I arrived, someone I know from home was just in the process of moving somewhere else.
[Good move on her part, she probably doesn't want the kind of therapy he could offer. Plus, she doesn't seem the kind of patient he usually treats.] I can only hope others could find my services useful.
[She wished her Doctor was here with her, but she would be all right. Somehow.]
I think there are people who would find your services useful. I've met a lot of people that are homesick or sad. And that's not even mentioning some of the other things that I'm sure people would need therapy for.
[And while Pinoko is plenty homesick, she is definitely not one of Dr. Lecter's normal clientele. As it is, she just smiles a little.]
Is there anything else I can help you with, Dr. Lecter?
[Hannibal nods.] Yes, I admit I did not expect to see him here, especially not after everything was explained to me by Mr. Baker.
If those people come to me, I promised to do my best to help them, Miss Pinoko.
[Maybe not, but she's very nice and polite, so Hannibal wouldn't mind her coming to him.
He smiles back at her.] Not for the moment, you have been very helpful today. I appreciate you taking time for informing me about everything.
Well, I'm sure they'll be glad for the help, Dr. Lecter.
[She nods to him. That feeling of unease and something being not quite right had lessened, but it hadn't completely gone away. And the fact that he had taken her seriously more or less from the start, well... that could mean any number of things. The Doctor had warned her about men who were interested in small girls after all. And while that not might be it, Pinoko wasn't sure she wanted to find out why Hannibal was interested.]
It was no trouble, Dr. Lecter. I'm sure I'll be seeing you around the hospital. I should be going though. I have things I need to take care of.
Thank you. [Please, have a smile.
Oh god no, Pinoko, Hannibal isn't that kind of man, in fact his sees them as nothing more than animals that ought to be put down. She's safe from him in that respect. He is genuinely curious about her as a person, though, and it does have to do with the fact that she looks like a kid, but she's definitely not a child. The way she speaks and what she knows are evidence of her maturity.]
Yes, of course, I will be delighted to meet you in person. Please take care and good luck with your work.
