For Science
Despite ending up in some bizarre place that wasn't home, again, and running into someone that not even ten minutes before waking up in this place had been trying to kill him. Sam was doing pretty well, likely in part that after twitching out in a corner over seeing a younger version of a face that helped raised him on someone that was trying to kill him, he realized the murdering was not going to happen. For now at least.
This meant poking about the place. More specifically finding used or about to be thrown out electronics and other gadgets he could take apart and figure out. Mostly because he tuned out everything regarding becoming a student here and thus part of what exactly he would gain from such.
This little adventure proved a bit more profitable then he had originally thought, since he hadn't had to barter manual labor to get things. Now how to get it back to his little living space and where to start first was the question. Considering he was going to draw more looks if he kept wandering around carrying battered items.
((OOC: Action tags or prose is more then welcomed brosefs. Also placeholder but I work split shift today so I may not be able to get to tags until late tonight or tomorrow depending on how long I have to spend cleaning my kitchen after this parent dinner.))

That said, Pinoko summoned a small sad smile.
"The Fleet people have said that there was an accident? A mistake? When they ended us bringing us here. They said that they're going to try to get us home but... Pinoko isn't that confident they'll be able to manage it. It was a really big accident that got us here in the first place, and no one seems to know how it happened. So it's not like they can even try to do it backwards and send us home."
Nope. She's not crying. Or sniffling. Maybe coming sort of close, but she's still holding things together. For now.

Believe him Pinoko, those were embarrassing years he still hasn't apologized to Alan for.

"Were you the angry kid who kicked and screamed at everyone?" she asked softly. "Did you end up giving your family grey hair and sullen attitudes?" She was only half teasing.
Pinoko looked down. "I'm not going to worry all the time. I just... I miss everyone back home, you know? Do you have anyone that you miss, Mr. Sam?"

Now that was a loaded question that Sam had no wish to answer let alone think about. His face likely shows that for a few moments before he's backpedaling into his quips and sarcasm.
"They'll likely keep you so busy at that hospital you won't get a chance to worry too much or for too long."
no subject
"Pinoko will never stop worrying about her friends or the Doctor! I can't forget about them! What if we never get back? What if it takes us so long that by the time we get back, all of the people we care about are... are..." Those are more tears. She can't even finish that thought.
And then she hugs Sam. Well... she hugs his legs. Mostly because she is still crying.

"Hey, hey now. Don't cry we won't know until that time comes. And no one said you had to forget about them just not to constantly worry about getting home. They'd probably wouldn't want you getting yourself sick crying over this for a long time."
How do you comfort, someone help.

"Pinoko's sorry, just..."
And there are more tears. Deep breaths Pinoko. She's also still clinging to Sam's legs. Nope. Not being very cohrent yet. She murmurs something that sounds like "Doctor" in between breaths, and something that might be "Largo." She is trying to calm down, but most of what Sam is getting is tears right now.

Just have a bit of an awkward shoulder pat there.

Another breath or two and she looked up at Sam.
"Pinoko is sorry for that. I didn't mean to cry all over you."
She offered him a small, awkward smile then.
"Pinoko is going to buy groceries. And then I'm probably going to go home and make a lot of food. I tend to make an awful lot. You don't have to if you don't want to, but would you like to come over to Pinoko's sometime for dinner? I'm a really good cook!"
no subject
"It's okay, it is a lot to take in after all. Maybe I'll take you up on that offer one day. Though I'd be the last one you'd want to help you carry groceries right now?"
Because he still has a pile of junk he has to take care of before someone gives him a littering ticket or something.
no subject
"You go build your death ray out of toaster parts. Pinoko is stronger than you think! I can handle carrying groceries. But you will come over and eat soon, right? I make really good curry! And I make an awful lot!"
Sam, that wasn't really an offer as much as it was a thinly veiled request.

AKA he is totally making an excuse not to go socialize because you made him uncomfortably aware of what he was repressing all this time.

Pinoko smiled. "Thanks, Mr. Sam. If you need Pinoko for anything, don't be afraid to ask."
And likely, if you were afraid to ask, Pinoko would do it anyway, Sam. So no worries there.

Ignore the fact he didn't commit one way or another to that invite. She doesn't know where he lives so it's not like she can hunt him down.
