0003: NEW ARRIVALS

Who: New Arrivals, Captain Jack Hollis, Science Captain Urist McEngineer, Graham Baker
Where: Briefing Room
When: Late afternoon
Warnings: None

When awakening, you'll find the area you're in to be very busy. The people in the medical ward are polite and understanding, but firmly refuse to answer questions until the briefing. The same goes for the robots in the hangars. Either given hospital outfits resembling very comfortable pajamas, drone bodies, or their own bodies, they are escorted by polite, unyielding people in red and black uniforms to the briefing room.

The room is large, but not quite large enough for some of the bigger Cybertronians. They've been given drone bodies at least, skinny little things with no real features beyond primitive masks made of paper plates. There's seats for everyone, at least, well-cushioned and comfortable, and the room is pleasantly lit.

A few Security personnel, dressed in their red and black uniforms, stand at ease in the rooms in strategic areas. Three men stand at the head. One is Graham Baker, a slightly nervous-seeming middle-aged man wearing a multi-layered business suit that seems rumpled and oversized. The other two men are dressed in military uniforms, one with the blue undershirt and piping of Command, while the other wears the gold of Science.

[Questions to the NPCs will go in the briefing thread. The rest of the post is there for people to mill about and do whatever with.]

[Geordi had heard that more of the victims of the fold-space engine were awakening, and being briefed, and so, despite his renewed vigor in searching the Fleet's technical specs, he'd set aside the datapad and gone to the briefing rooms.

It's not that he needs to hear the whole explanation again. It's just that he hasn't heard one way or another about any Starfleet personnel that might have been still unconscious when he was herded down to his own briefing. So he looks for familiar faces, and when the briefing ends, he starts moving through the crowd once more.

He hasn't found a familiar face, but he finds himself pausing as he catches sight of one particular figure. It reminds him of Kagerou, which reminds him of the way Kagerou was treated- and that is enough to make up his mind to approach.]

Excuse me.

[ the voice brings his head and gaze up, optics flickering beneath their protective lenses, faintly startled despite himself. an organic, probably human by his best guess--though he hasn't had many encounters with humanity before now--and.. he's fairly certain that this one's optics aren't standard. (he's studied them, at least.)

he hesitates, a little flustered, before a smile curves across his mouth, small and warm and friendly. ]
Ah, hello.
blindlygo: (oh yeah?)

[Nervousness seems to be a theme among the what he thinks are androids Geordi is running into here. Plenty of the humans too, and all with obvious reason. It's had the effect of strengthening Geordi's already present intent to be friendly, which is easily reflected in his own smile.]

Hey. I don't mean to interrupt anything, but... you seem a little lost.
brightspark: (???)

[ he ex-vents in a small huff of laughter, brows lifting. ] I have to admit, I didn't expect to be accidentally kidnapped when I came out of recharge today. This sort of thing doesn't really happen to me. [ as far as he knows, he's never been shrunk before, either. but that's something to worry about later. in the meantime.. ]

I was trying to see if any of my patients were here, but.. [ he glances down at his comm device, frowning faintly. ] The only familiar names are ones that shouldn't be here at all. [ .. but.. wait, he's being rude, isn't he? he glances back up, expression faintly startled. ] Oh, goodness. My apologies-- My name is Rung, it's nice to meet you.
blindlygo: (I got this)

[He holds up his hands in a 'no harm done' gesture.] I know introductions slipped my mind when I got that same speech two weeks ago. [In other words, for all his calm, he's in the same boat.]

Geordi La Forge, glad to meet you too.

[ geordi la forge. he hesitates, fingers touching his mouth thoughtfully, brows lifting. ] Begging your pardon, my familiarity with humanity is a little lacking. You arrange your names, generally speaking, in two parts, yes? Do you prefer one or the other..? [ and if so, is it geordi, geordi la, la forge, or forge? he's really going to have to do some study when he gets a moment. ]
blindlygo: (Chief of Engineering)

[Oh, time for a quick cultural lesson, apparently. It's definitely a more pleasant explanation than the one for his VISOR, and he's had his last name create confusion.]

That's right. Usually the first name is personal, and the second is a family name. In my case, La Forge is the family one, but you can call me Geordi.

[He's no first contact diplomat, but he's pretty sure he's managing here.]

Geordi, then. [ his smile brightens, warmly open, as he tucks his comm device away, a panel on his chassis opening for that purpose. it seals shut afterward, and he laces his fingers lightly together. ]

So you've been here for two weeks..? Am I the first Cybertronian you've met here?

I suppose so. I met someone who looked similar [Meaning, looked like a large humanoid robot] but he described himself as an A.I., and that doesn't sound like what you mean.

[It's obvious, with the tilt of his head, that he's observing Rung rather closely.]
