0003: NEW ARRIVALS
Who: New Arrivals, Captain Jack Hollis, Science Captain Urist McEngineer, Graham Baker
Where: Briefing Room
When: Late afternoon
Warnings: None
When awakening, you'll find the area you're in to be very busy. The people in the medical ward are polite and understanding, but firmly refuse to answer questions until the briefing. The same goes for the robots in the hangars. Either given hospital outfits resembling very comfortable pajamas, drone bodies, or their own bodies, they are escorted by polite, unyielding people in red and black uniforms to the briefing room.
The room is large, but not quite large enough for some of the bigger Cybertronians. They've been given drone bodies at least, skinny little things with no real features beyond primitive masks made of paper plates. There's seats for everyone, at least, well-cushioned and comfortable, and the room is pleasantly lit.
A few Security personnel, dressed in their red and black uniforms, stand at ease in the rooms in strategic areas. Three men stand at the head. One is Graham Baker, a slightly nervous-seeming middle-aged man wearing a multi-layered business suit that seems rumpled and oversized. The other two men are dressed in military uniforms, one with the blue undershirt and piping of Command, while the other wears the gold of Science.
[Questions to the NPCs will go in the briefing thread. The rest of the post is there for people to mill about and do whatever with.]

They have so much power in each page that the books themselves have souls and form contracts for prices that only they would choose! There's no telling what they would ask for, be it companionship or a murder or their sorcerer's very SOUL!
[West flails his hands into the air, moving his fingers wildly in what one can assume to be a spooky manner!]
They seem to enjoy taking the forms of little girls or dolls. One or the other. Its really quite scientifically vexing because there's no way to tell where all that mass comes from!!
My rival Kurou Daijuuji had one himself, and Master Therion had tasked me to retrieve it since Daijuuji was at that time my greatest and most skilled foe! Oh the battles of yesteryear... He would win some, and I would come exceedingly close to achieving victory were it not for his bond with Al Azif!!

An "enormously frightening amount of murder," why that sounds terribly scary! Ah! Here we are at the infirmary, they can patch up your skinned knees, and perhaps also get those, er, things out of your face.
[ A vague wave at West's facial piercings. ]
Anyway, did you ever.... ah, did you ever come exceedingly close to contracting with a Grimoire yourself?
no subject
[West is gonna clutch his hands over as many as he could cover. His next comment is admittedly a LITTLE muffled.]
Ah, the closest I have ever gotten was powering one of my inventions with a wayward page from Al Azif - though she and Daijuuji took it back. But to contract with a Grimore myself? The thought had never even passed across my brilliant mind, for there are some things that I would not abide.
[West moves his hands away before chortling to himself.]
While I have no doubts that Daijuuji and Al Azif's partnership is more than convenience - holding a tremendously deep bond with each other with all the sweetness and warmth of the most beautiful sunset despite the many times they have bit at each other, observation of her behaviors most certainly proves that any man who contracts with a Grimore... is most certainly going to be driven insane! And a genius like me knows how to avoid such traps.
[Yes, because having a Mad Scientist who has magic possibly becoming MORE crazy would be too horrifying for words.]

Haha! Emilyyy!
[ He perches himself, cross-legged, on an examination table, but not before filching a lollipop most likely intended for the pediatric population of the clinic. He bites down on it, noisily. ]
So you don't go in for tremendously deep, beautiful bonds with other people? That's fortunate, I suppose. Your inventions, did you say? Are you —
[ He breaks off, squeezing his eyes shut several times, in the manner of someone who's had a contact lens go astray. He realizes he's doing it and stops, trying to smile, but with limited success. ]
Are you an inventor, then? What sorts of things do you invent?
no subject
Aaah such bonds are a beautiful thing to witness indeed, but a man who goes through such lengths to further the path of human understanding and knowledge would not be able to maintain such bonds for indeterminate lengths of time... oh such a lonely path I lead!
[Still, West recovers when he was asked.]
Oh I only invent the greatest inventions ever made! When a scientific solution was always required I built it!
But mostly I build robots! From towering giants to the beauty of my perfect maiden Elsa....
[He trailed off slowly then hung his head.]
Whyyyy Elsa... Whyyy did you never love meeeeeeee!

[ Mechanical men, he was going to say, but...
Well, it all makes sense. ]
Ahaha, if I might be so bold to say so, building mechanical ladies who don't, er, love you seems rather to defeat the point.
no subject
If I am to be loved by my creations, then I will EARN THAT LOVE rather than simply enter a cheat code for it!
[That's... surprising to say the least.]

[ A beat, that stretches into an almost awkward pause. ]

Ha! Ha! Ha! Goodness me! How odd, how delightfully peculiar! What's your name, good sir?
