0003: NEW ARRIVALS
Who: New Arrivals, Captain Jack Hollis, Science Captain Urist McEngineer, Graham Baker
Where: Briefing Room
When: Late afternoon
Warnings: None
When awakening, you'll find the area you're in to be very busy. The people in the medical ward are polite and understanding, but firmly refuse to answer questions until the briefing. The same goes for the robots in the hangars. Either given hospital outfits resembling very comfortable pajamas, drone bodies, or their own bodies, they are escorted by polite, unyielding people in red and black uniforms to the briefing room.
The room is large, but not quite large enough for some of the bigger Cybertronians. They've been given drone bodies at least, skinny little things with no real features beyond primitive masks made of paper plates. There's seats for everyone, at least, well-cushioned and comfortable, and the room is pleasantly lit.
A few Security personnel, dressed in their red and black uniforms, stand at ease in the rooms in strategic areas. Three men stand at the head. One is Graham Baker, a slightly nervous-seeming middle-aged man wearing a multi-layered business suit that seems rumpled and oversized. The other two men are dressed in military uniforms, one with the blue undershirt and piping of Command, while the other wears the gold of Science.
[Questions to the NPCs will go in the briefing thread. The rest of the post is there for people to mill about and do whatever with.]

But making sure things carried out in his absence wasn't the same as being there.
"I'm sorry." And he means it, from the deepest parts of his spark - sadness reflected in both his tone and his expression. "Sentinel - I never thought he would stoop so low to come after you to get to me." They couldn't just be satisfied with Shadowplay, no, they had to go after his legacy. Anger stirs in him again but there's more important things to be dealt with than the desire to rip Proteus and Sentinel to shreds with his bare hands.
Not that he'd have the opportunity to.

"Don't blame yourself, Shockwave! I mean, you did it to protect all of us. You always did. After what they did to you..."
A hand goes to his mouth, making a soft 'ahem'. It was still hard to really discuss it. And maybe they should save that little detail for a better time. Right now...the truck wanted to just soak it all in. That Shockwave--the REAL one--returned to him.
He doesn't think, and immediately throws his arms around Shockwave's waist, squeezing as tight as he possibly can. As if the Senator would disappear into thin air if he didn't.
no subject
After a few seconds, however, Shockwave pulls backs slightly.
"I need to know, Trailbreaker." Living in ignorance is not an option. "Shadowplay -- what did they do?"
Nothing is not an option, and Shockwave needs to be certain that he is still himself. They could have taken something from him and he'd never know unless someone told him what he's missing.
no subject
But that question...It makes him almost silent. Almost.
"It wasn't just that. You're uh...they--"
Those eyes deviate from Shockwave's, suddenly finding the floor more fascinating. After that, he could only utter one word.
"Empurata."
no subject
His expression darkens, frown deepening.
"Empurata." There's no masking his anger when he says the word, though Trailcutter should know him well enough to know it's not directed at him. "What else did they take from me, Trailbreaker? The Shadowplay."
There has to be something, he knows there has to be.
no subject
He doesn't look up at Shockwave--not yet.
Not until everything had been said.
"Your emotions. There's just...." He gestures out, looking at his hand. "Nothing. You don't like or hate. You just do what's most....logical."
There's a strained tiredness in his voice finally looking up to meet the Senator's face.
"The Academy was destroyed after."
no subject
"Sentinel spared no expense." And that's definitely anger in his voice. "A fate worse than death."
The made him controllable. And while it burns that they could do that to him, he wouldn't change it. Shockwave went willing to save a life, and he'd do the same again. The sadness washes over his anger, and the look he gives Trailcutter is heartbroken.
"Trailbreaker--" He doesn't know what to say. Instead he just pulls the other bot to him in another hug, not saying anything.
no subject
All that remained were the memories of him, those who did as he asked before he was taken away. It never seemed fair to the outliers--far from it. They'd lost their mentor, their home...their hope.
But things somehow worked out, didn't they? Even now, Shockwave was here, right?
So he buries himself into that hug he's given, and despite his optics starting to heat up from the emotional output, he's happy, deep down.
"Thanks. For coming back, I mean."
no subject
"I would have then, too. If I could have."
For a moment he tries to think about it logically, with no emotion. They all had talents that made them equally likely to survive as well as hunted down - the could survive if left on their own, and therefore it would make sense to leave them be rather than gather them up again. But it occurs to Shockwave that he would never have even given them a second thought when there were other things that were infinitely more pressing. So he lost them because a few lives paled in significance to the survival of Cybertron and the species as a whole.
The thought is so repulsive he can barely stand it. How dare they?
no subject
Not if this was the payout.
It's a while before he speaks up again, backing away just enough to look up.
"Does this mean I still have to practice?"
no subject
"How long has it been since you've had a proper lesson?"
So that's a yes. There were things he wanted to see if Trailcutter could try that they never got around to - and maybe he had discovered some of those on his own. They wouldn't know until they tried and perhaps a little normalcy would go a long way. For the both of them.
no subject
"Forever. But it's not like I can't keep them up!"
That's totally a lie, Whirl would definitely say different. But he's in no position to think on that right now. This is one of the best moments he's had since the war ended.
"I won't let you down again."
no subject
But Shockwave smiles with him, a low rumble of a laugh escaping him in response. Out of everything being here has thrown at him this is the best part of it - knowing that at least one of his students got out alive. More than alive - lived.
"Let me know when you're settled and we can start again."
